I haven't fully installed the system yet, but I have it on my desk checking everything.  i also ordered a two pack or the WiFi add-on cameras and have those installed and up and running.  The camera angel is great as is the quality of the images.  I have yet to figure out the intricacies of programming each camera, but I'll get there. I really like being able to add the additional 4 WiFi cameras and setup was easy once I got the cameras on the 2.4 of my mesh system.  At first, when I added the WiFi cameras the app would recognize them as separate devices and the app would not let me add the WiFi cameras to the DVR.  To get it to work, I had to temporarily turn off everything except the 2.4 on my mesh because at first the app or the DVR was not recognizing the WiFi cameras as additions to the DVR. In the end, everything worked as advertised and I think I'll be very happy with the system.  I want to add that the presales team was very responsive to me.  Also, there is a ton of support videos on the Night Owl site that walks you though everything..

Pretty Easy Setup & It's Working Great

Night Owl systems offer great flexibility in monitoring homes. It's simple to get up and running although this system does require a lot of cable runs which I have done before. The cameras offer a great view during day and night. I'm still checking but these may be limited to event recoding and not full-time. So I see a lot of events with nothing there. Some other features like the audio I haven't checked into but the recorded audio is nice to have. Some limitations I see is not being to get a full screen view om my phone and setting a default audio limit on playback. (full volume is the default) Some far a good system with the ability to add in WiFi cameras.

Night Owl - A great choice with flexible benefits

They are a nice upgrade from our old 8 camera system with Night Owl but the app does seem to lag more, and I can't move from screen to screen as easily as the old system.

UPGRADE to 4G

Zero support.  They claim 9am-9pm phone support, call and 80% change you'll be on hold until after 9pm at which time it'll tell you the support line is closed.  Chat support is useless.  When I did get a hold of somebody, they had to "Escelate it to engineering," who never responded after requesting my receipt and photo of the device's serial number, which was provided.  So frustrating, not worth it.

The third party seller sold me a 2 year old product as a new and full price... In mid 2026 they sold me a 2023/2024 product.... Incomprehensible. Walmart needs to not allow this. And immediately refund their customers.

For assistance I went to YouTube as instructed, then tried chat, finally found a number to call. I selected English, the female proceeded to make fun of my name in Spanish, some other female laughed. I asked if I was calling Night Owl, she said yes it’s technical support. In Spanish I asked what was so funny about my name, she hung up on me. I called right back to complain, I was told all calls are monitored? End result I will return cameras after various attempts plus 3 calls, due to rudeness, lack of customer service and language barrier after I requested someone that could understand me. They are not permitted to disclose if they are located in another country.

Bad experience

Horrible. 6 months after purchasing our DVR failed. NightOwl replaced it with another broken DVR and isnt willing to do anything more. This was our second NightOwl product, last was great but this DVR was complete garbage. NightOwl customer service is also the absolute worst. Save your money.

Look for other options. This is TRASH

VIPOutlet is a fraudulent company.  They are processing orders in an unethical way.  Walmart upper management has been informed.  Buyer beware.

Night Owl cameras are horrible.  There detection software says every movement is a person and that is only when they are detecting and sending info back to the DVR.  Half the cameras just stop working for no reason and stop sending nay motion signals.

Worthless Cameras

Looses internet connection repeatedly so I can't see the cams on my phone. Called support they were useless and said it's because I have my Bluetooth on… I'm an hour away from the store but ok sure it's the Bluetooth that's the problem. Dvr also looses color on one of the cameras and goes to black and white. Un plugging and plugging back in resolves both issues temporarily. Support said they were going to escalate it and call me back, that was 2 weeks ago. 
Joke of a system and app is horrendous, it's like the app developers never used a cctv system before.
When it works the live feed is alway unstable and constantly jumping freezing and reducing resolution. This is on wired Ethernet via Verizon fiber. Solid service totally the dvr fault.
I'd give it no stars if I could.
